The Theologian Slave TraderThis is the official web site for anthropologist, Dr Christiana Oware Knudsen. A Ghanaian, who has spent most of her adult life in Denmark and Europe, her work is concerned with the interaction between European and African cultures. Her work is also inspired by her interest in spiritual healing and she has done some research into the professionalisation of distant spiritual healing practices as complementary to medical healthcare.

Her latest work is a personal commentary on Fredericus Svane Africanus’s autobiography, The General Declaration. Entitled The Theologian Slave Trader, the book explores the life of Fredericus Petersen, a mulatto adopted by a Danish Lutheran Priest at Christiansborg Fort and was brought back to Denmark as a teenager. The Danish king Frederik IV was his godfather. He wrote a compelling autobiography which for many years has been largerly ignored. In this book, Dr Christiana Oware Knudsen brings this work to life and contempary relevance.
